Shape Tween

Shape tweening is processes of transforming one simple shape into another simple shape over time.
- Start a new flash movie
- Create a square with no stroke

- Add a blank keyframe to frame 30

- Add a green circle with no stroke at the same spot

- (You can use guides to help you line things up)
- click on frame 1
- Select shape tween in the property inspector

- Start a new flash movie
- Draw a big letter A
- Break it apart
- Add a blank keyframe on frame 30
- Add a letter W
- Shape tween it
Shape tween with motion
- Start a new flash movie
- Add a circle
- Add a keyframe on frame 10
- Move the circle to the right
- Add a keyframe on frame 20
- Move the circle some more
- On frame 10 stretch out the circle

- Add a shape tween to frame 1 and 10
Shape tween properties
- Ease
- Easing in or out of its motion
- Positive value eases in
- Negative value eases out
- Blend
- Distributive
- Smoothes out the tweened shapes
- Angular
- Preserves corners and straight lines
Shape Hints
Shape tweens can be unpredictable
You can gain better control over shape tweens by using shape hints
- Start a new flash movie
- Draw a star
- Add guides to show where all the angles are

- Add a blank keyframe on frame 20
- Draw a square in its place

- Remove the guides
- Add a shape tween on frame 1

- Click on frame 1
- Select the modify menu
- Click on shape and add shape hint


- Click on frame 20
- Drag the shape hint to the top middle

- It should turn from red to green

- Click on frame 1, it should turn to yellow

- Repeat until you have a shape hint on every point
- Shape hints have to do in alphabetical order clockwise from left middle on
