Colors in Flash
There are two types of visual movie elements
To break apart a graphic select it on the stage and choose Modify| Break Apart
Stroke and Fills
Every simple shape you create using Flash’s drawing tools is made up of a stroke, a fill, or both, and every stroke or fill has a set of attributes that determines how it looks
The flash drawing toolbar has 2 color controls to quickly choose a color
One represents the stroke and the other the fill

Click on one and you can change the color

You can drag the dropper to anywhere on the flash program to select its color

There are 3 buttons below the color buttons
- Black and White- change the color to black and white
- No Color- selects no color for stroke or fill
- Swap Colors- swap the stroke and fill colors

Custom Colors
The bottom on the top right of the color selection panel lets you choose a custom color

Choose gradients by selecting a gradient from the bottom panel
Once selected you can adjust the gradient ion the colors panel

Click one of the squares to change the color
Drag it off to get rid of that gradient color

Working with Strokes:
strokes = lines
strokes come in two types
a regular line has a begin and end point
an outline has no begin or endpoint
Ink Bottle
(hotkey S)
The ink bottle allows you to copy the attributes from one object to another.
- Select a stroke
- Click the ink bottle
The pointer becomes an ink bottle
- Click on the stroke to copy the attributes
Paint Bucket
(Hotkey K)

Use the pain bucket to change the fill of an object
You can also add a fill to any shape that has a closed stroke
If you click inside an enclosed stroke and it doesn’t fill it may be because there is a gap

You can either close the gap or set the sensitivity of the pain bucket

Eyedropper Tool
(Hotkey I)

The eyedropper lets you select attributes of an object. It automatically detects whether is a stroke or fill selected.
When you move the eyedropper over a stroke a pencil appears next to it

When you click on the stroke the eyedropper turns into an ink bottle letting you transfer the attributes to another stroke
When you move the eyedropper over a fill a tiny paint brush appears next to it.

When you click on the fill the eyedropper turns into a paint bucket letting you transfer the attributes to another fill
